LANSING, Mich., June 28, 2022 — The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United State Capitol held its sixth day of public hearings today. The hearing was announced in a surprise fashion, less than 30 hours ahead of time, and featured one live witness’s testimony, that of Cassidy Hutchinson, former executive assistant to then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, detailing the days leading up to and including Jan. 6, 2021, inside the White House.

“Today’s testimony was a horrific peek into the inner workings of the West Wing on that tragic day in this country,” said House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township). “Michiganders are growing a greater, and graver, understanding of how President Trump conspired to overturn the 2020 election with the Jan. 6 riot that Michigan Republicans participated in, directly supported, and continue to support and make excuses for. As we learn how our former president operated that day, I hope we also develop a greater understanding of the Michigan Republicans who continue to stand by him today.”
