House Democratic Leader Tim Greimel (D-Auburn Hills) shakes the hand of Don Bloomfield, a Midland resident who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Bloomfield was in the Michigan House of Representatives on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attack. On the “day that will live in infamy,” Bloomfield was a 20-year-old member of the Army Quartermaster Corps and a truck driver. He went on to serve in both the Pacific and in Europe in World War II, and received many honors, including two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
