DETROIT, July 20, 2021 — State Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit) invites Detroiters to attend the Dancing on the McGraw/Stomping Out COVID vaccination drive on Saturday, July 31, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Johnson will be joined by the Detroit Health Department and Bridging Communities to offer a day full of raffle prizes, music, games and fun to those who get vaccinated.
“Getting the vaccine is the best way to defeat COVID and keep us safe,” Johnson said. “We must stand together to not only protect ourselves but also those around us. Dancing on the McGraw/Stomping Out COVID allows us to do just that right in the heart of our community.”
The vaccination drive will be held on McGraw Street between 28th and 30th Streets. Special guests at the event include Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit), Detroit City Council Member Raquel Castañeda-López, the Infro. I.H.O.P (Cathedral By The Water) Youth Corral and singer Yvette Meadows.
Those 21 years of age and older who receive a vaccine will be entered into a raffle to win one of two free hotel stays, courtesy of MGM Grand Detroit.
“The vaccines are safe and effective and will help protect you,” said Denise Fair, chief public health officer for the city of Detroit. “I’m inviting all Detroiters to get the facts and get vaccinated to keep you safe from COVID-19.”
Individuals wishing to receive a vaccine do not need to set up an appointment.
