LANSING, Mich., Dec. 1, 2020 — Rudy Giuliani, personal attorney to President Donald Trump, will appear in person before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday as he, the president and their Republican allies in the Michigan Legislature continue to sow chaos and disinformation in their efforts to overturn the election results in the state. State Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit), Minority Vice-Chair of the committee, issued the follow statement in response:

“I can’t seem to understand why we’re gathering in the midst of a deadly pandemic to debate an issue that has already been decided. The people of Michigan didn’t approve of Trump’s decisions as President and they held him accountable in the recent election. That election has been certified. This discussion is over. Our state’s Republican leaders shouldn’t be giving a platform for people to spout delusional nonsense as they try to stand in the way of democracy.”
