DETROIT, Oct. 12, 2021 — The “Big Michigan Rally” aimed at overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election and spreading disinformation that furthers the Big Lie was held today on the steps of the Michigan Capitol. In response, state Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit) issued the following statement:
“We already know that our elections are safe and secure. All the Big Lie tries to do is silence the voices of Black and brown people. The rally at the Capitol today was all a distraction. They lost, and it’s time to let it go. I know Donald Trump can’t relate, but the people of Detroit elected me to deliver real solutions for them. Now it’s time to get back to doing the people’s work and fighting for Detroiters and hardworking people across the state.”
