LANSING, Mich., April 26, 2022 — Today, State Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit) announced she tested positive for COVID-19 with the following reminders:
- “Despite COVID numbers being low, it’s important to stay vigilant, as it’s still possible for vaccinated individuals to contract and spread the virus. I’m living proof, but I have to admit and take some responsibility that as soon as the government restrictions were relaxed, I got relaxed.
- “While I am okay, it’s important to know that we are not in the clear and to remember that no one is going to advocate or take care of you like you.
- “Getting tested, vaccinated and boosted, and still taking tests when you feel ill are all important. I don’t feel ill: just some sniffles and coughing, all symptoms I presumed were nothing but a cold. However, until we figure this thing out, please, let’s be smart.
- “Some of the best defenses against COVID are washing hands; if you are sick or not vaccinated, STAY HOME. I recommend that if you’re out in public and you don’t know who you’re around, wear KN95 masks. These suggestions are still our best weapons against the virus.”
