LANSING, Mich., Aug. 18, 2021 — State Reps. Jewell Jones (D-Inkster) and Brenda Cater (D-Pontiac) will introduce a resolution to declare the third Thursday in August as Statewide Prayer Service today in the state of Michigan.
To celebrate the resolution, Jones and Carter will host Pastor Leon Porter of Champion Church at the steps of the state Capitol and invite the community to attend the Interactive Prayer Movement Presents: weUNITE Statewide Prayer and Communion Service on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 6 a.m.
“In the spirit of unity, we invite everyone to come together for prayer and communion,” Jones said. “While some of us may disagree, it’s important for all of us — regardless of religious affiliation — to show the respect and love we have for each other and this state.”
