LANSING — The Michigan House of Representatives held their annual Sept. 11 ceremony this week to commemorate Michigan first responders lost in the line of duty during the past year, honor those lost in the 2001 attacks and to recognize first responders serving in Michigan communities today. State Rep. Jewell Jones (D-Inkster), who hosted Sergeant Mark Oliver of the Detroit Police Department during the ceremony, issued the following statement:

“I was excited to be joined by my Uncle, Sergeant Mark Oliver, at the Capitol yesterday for our First Responders and Military Members 9/11 Program. Sgt. Oliver has 18 years of experience on the force, including the violent crime task force, city council protection detail, police recruiting, working on three mayoral security protection details, as well as coordinating the security protection detail for the current Detroit Chief of Police James E. Craig.”
