INKSTER – State Rep. Jewell Jones (D-Inkster), Attorney General Dana Nessel, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit), state Sen. Betty Jean Alexander (D-Detroit) and representatives from The Senior Alliance, the Inkster Aging Commission and the Department of Health and Human Services met with residents at a town hall on Monday to discuss issues relevant to seniors in the community. Nessel provided information about her recently announced Elder Abuse Task Force and representatives from senior advocacy groups were on hand to share available resources. The event received an impressive turnout from seniors eager to ask important questions and learn about various assistance they may be eligible to receive.

“Seniors are a vital and cherished part of our community,” said Jones. “Through a lifetime of hard work, they laid the foundation for where we are today. I was honored to host this event to connect with seniors in our community and will continue working to ensure they have access to the resources they need.”

Those who were unable to attend the event but still wish to receive information about available resources and legislative issues relevant to seniors can contact Jones’ office by phone at (517) 373-0849, by email at JewellJones@house.mi.gov, or by stopping by his office in Lansing.
