State Rep. Matt Koleszar (D-Plymouth) speaks to his amendment on May 8, 2024, on the House Floor of the Michigan House of Representatives.

LANSING, Mich., May 8, 2024 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its fiscal 2024-25 budget today. It includes substantial investments in Michigan students, local economies, safety and greater focus on the wellbeing of Michiganders. House Dems are reinforcing their commitment to building stronger hometowns and investing in working Michiganders. After the vote, state Rep. Matt Koleszar (D-Plymouth) issued the following statement on the budget:

“Strong students mean a strong Michigan, and bringing that strength into reality is a huge priority for me. I’m ecstatic to see that this budget not only invests more in our classrooms but it also increases mental health and school safety resources. House Dems are putting more money into our classrooms, and as a teacher-turned-legislator, I understand just how important every dollar is for our schools. We are lowering costs to districts and putting more money into classrooms where it belongs.”
