LANSING — Last night, the Speaker of the House announced the committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session. State Rep. Matt Koleszar (D-Plymouth) was appointed to the House Education Committee and the House Health Policy Committee.

“After spending 12 years in the classroom, I am excited to use my experience as an educator while serving on these critical committees,” Rep. Koleszar said. “I am ready to work on protecting the public health and supporting public schools to help the families of Canton, Plymouth and Northville succeed.”

Rep. Koleszar is currently serving his first term representing the 20th House District, which includes the cities of Plymouth, Canton and Northville. He graduated from Saginaw Valley State University before attending Eastern Michigan University, where he received a master's degree in English studies. Before serving in the Legislature, Rep. Koleszar worked as a teacher and coach in the Airport Community School District.
