LANSING — State Representative Robert L. Kosowski (D-Westland) applauded the members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for unanimously approving House Bill 4985 today. Kosowski testified before the committee in support of the bill, which dedicates a portion of M-153 as the Firefighter Brian Woehlke Memorial Highway. The bill now moves to the full House for consideration.
“I want to thank the members of the committee for hearing my testimony and voting in support of this bill,” Kosowski said. “I look forward to working with the rest of my colleagues to get this bill signed into law.”
Brian Woehlke was a Wayne-Westland firefighter who lost his life last year in the line of duty. If the bill becomes law, the portion of M-153 between Newburgh Road and Wayne Road will bear his name.
“Our police officers and firefighters give so much to their community, and Brian Woehlke made the ultimate sacrifice,” Kosowski said. “This bill is just a small way of showing our support and honoring Brian’s life and his service.”
