LANSING — State Representative Robert L. Kosowski (D-Westland) applauded the members of the House of Representatives for unanimously approving House Bill 4985 this week. The bill, which dedicates a portion of M-153 as the Firefighter Brian Woehlke Memorial Highway, passed 107-0. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
“Brain Woehlke layed down his life in the line of duty and I am glad we honored him by passing this through the House of Representatives. It was an extremely proud moment seeing every member present vote in favor of this bill,” Kosowski said. “It was a pleasure working with Westland Mayor Bill Wild and Westland Fire Chief Michael Reddy to properly honor Brian Woehlke who made the ultimate sacrifice. My focus now turns to the Senate, where I will continue doing all I can to honor Brian Woehlke and get this bill to the governor’s desk to be signed into law.”
Brian Woehlke was a Wayne-Westland firefighter who lost his life last year in the line of duty. If the bill becomes law, the portion of M-153 between Newburgh Road and Wayne Road will bear his name.
