Kuppa Introduces Resolution to Establish an Infrastructure Task Force
LANSING, Mich., May 11, 2022 — Yesterday, state Rep. Padma Kuppa (D-Troy) introduced House Resolution 292, which urges the governor to convene an Infrastructure Task Force to coordinate efforts to ensure that federal funding is used to advance climate, resilience and equity goals.
“Last year, states were given the opportunity of a lifetime to address shortcomings in funding areas that have persisted for decades, especially when it comes to climate-proofing our infrastructure and addressing the need for equitable applications of funding,” Kuppa said. “With the passage of the federal bipartisan infrastructure package that made this opportunity possible, I look forward to continuing to work with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and her administration to ensure that this funding is applied equitably and in a way that supports healthy climate goals.”
This resolution was crafted with the assistance of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC); key stakeholder organizations such as the Michigan League of Conservation Voters (MLCV), Michigan Sierra Club and For Love of Water (FLOW) also contributed.
