LANSING, Mich., July 11, 2022 — Organizers for the Reproductive Freedom for All petition delivered signatures to the Bureau of Elections today. The petition would amend the Michigan Constitution to ensure that no one goes to prison for providing safe medical care as well as ensure access to a broad range of reproductive health care, including abortion. State Rep. David LaGrand (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement on the delivery of the signatures:

“I applaud and congratulate the people who organized and collected signatures to ensure that securing reproductive freedoms will be on the ballot in November. Over 750,000 signatures were collected — this is hundreds of thousands over the required number for the initiative to make it on the ballot and set a record for the number of Michiganders involved in the ballot initiative process. This speaks to how galvanized Michiganders are to protect reproductive health, bodily autonomy and individual rights. My team was part of the signature gathering, and I’m fully committed to the cause going forward.”
