LANSING — State Rep. David LaGrand (D-Grand Rapids) was sworn in officially today as representative for the 75th House District for the 2019-2020 legislative session. The swearing-in ceremony marked the formal opening of Michigan’s 100th Legislature. In response, Rep. LaGrand issued the following statement:

“In the 100th Legislature, I look forward to continuing my work to reform our broken criminal justice system. We cannot claim to have a Michigan that works for everyone when such a critical component of our society—how justice is deliberated and served—is titled so heavily in favor of the haves versus the have nots. I’m eager to get to work once more, alongside my colleagues new and old, to ensure that our state truly provides the opportunities and protects the freedoms the people of Michigan are guaranteed and deserve.”
