LANSING, Mich., July 27, 2022 — House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) has issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court of Michigan ruling 5-2 in favor of the state in the case of Rouch World, LLC v. Department of Civil Rights:
“This is a tremendous ruling, one we’ve been anxiously awaiting, and I’m ecstatic to see these civil rights assured as they always should have been. This is a great occasion for celebration as we take a step toward being a more inclusive and welcoming state and home. With this ruling the court has made clear the state of Michigan cannot and will not tolerate discrimination in housing, employment, and access to services, and the court has made this a great day for the state of Michigan and the LGBTQ community.”
