LANSING, Mich., Jan. 20, 2022 – The Michigan State Medical Society earlier this week urged the legislature to distribute billions in remaining federal COVID relief as the surge in cases caused by the Omicron variant pushes hospitals to their breaking point. In response, House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) issued the following statement:

“House Democrats stand ready to put every last federal dollar for COVID testing and healthcare to work right now in our communities. After nearly a year of complete inaction, Republicans only put up a portion of these federal dollars for a vote late last year. There are still billions left on the table that our communities and health care system need now. It is critical that the legislature pass the remaining federal relief dollars now so that we can support our hospitals, and make sure our schools and local businesses stay open.”
