DETROIT — Last week, DTE Energy announced a goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions through its electric company by 2050. This new goal sets the framework for DTE to align with the scientific consensus around the need to achieve significant economy-wide carbon emission reductions by mid-century. In response, state Rep. Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) issued the following statement:

“We have a duty to preserve our environment and natural resources for generations to come. This duty is especially important to us Michiganders, whose state is graced with lush forests and pristine beaches. I’m grateful that major energy producers like DTE take this responsibility seriously as well, and I applaud their willingness to make the right decision when it comes to protecting our planet.”
