LANSING, Mich., Aug. 5, 2021 — AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, the leader of the most influential labor organization in the country, passed away today at the age of 72. In response, House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) issued the following statement:
“Richard Trumka was a tireless advocate for working families and dedicated his life to being a voice for the voiceless. His work with the AFL-CIO improved the lives of countless working-class Americans and protected the workplace rights many take for granted. Trumka’s leadership will be missed and we will continue to push forward for good jobs for all in his honor.”
