LANSING, Mich., June 30, 2021 — The U.S. House of Representatives voted today to create a select committee to investigate the January 6 insurrection in D.C. House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) is leading the charge for the creation of a bipartisan joint select committee in the state Legislature to investigate Michigan’s ties to the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Lasinski issued the following statement:

“Today, Congress stepped up to the plate and will be taking a serious look at the violent attack on our nation. We cannot simply sweep these events under the rug and move on like nothing happened, and we cannot leave unquestioned the events right here in Michigan leading up to this dark day. We must identify any connections that may exist between the insurrection in D.C. and the armed mob that entered Michigan’s Capitol so that we can hold those who participated accountable.”
