LANSING — State Representative Bill LaVoy (D- Monroe) was honored to have Most Reverend Bishop Earl Boyea at the state Capitol this week. Boyea is the fifth Bishop of the Lansing Diocese and was named to his position in February 2008.

“In addition to the tremendous honor it was to have Bishop Boyea here, it was great to hear from an influential figure that was involved in the community of Monroe in the late 1970s,” LaVoy said. “It also showed that faith can surpass partisan divisions — it has an unsurmountable uniting quality.”

Boyea delivered the invocation that began Wednesday’s House session at the Capitol.
