LANSING, Mich., June 26, 2025 — Members of the LGBTQ Caucus hosted a public reading of state Rep. Jason Morgan’s (D-Ann Arbor) resolution — HR 138 — to recognize June 2025 as Pride Month in Michigan. This reading was held to celebrate Pride Month and call attention to Republican Speaker Matt Hall’s statement that he has no intention of taking up the resolution. After reading the resolution, the LGBTQ Caucus released the following statement:

“The House has taken up this same resolution without any issues for years now. This refusal to acknowledge Pride this year serves as an important reminder: progress can be undone. We don’t need Speaker Hall or House Republicans’ permission to celebrate Pride — so we decided to read the resolution publicly on the steps of the Capitol today. Pride is about standing up to support our LGBTQ+ friends, family and neighbors, and their right to live open, healthy, loving lives — happy Pride!”
