DETROIT — Sunday, Ms. Lois Holden or Mother Holden as she is affectionately known, will be honored by family, friends and community members in celebration of her 109th birthday. Her actual birthday is tomorrow, Feb. 2.
“I was honored to be invited to share in this joyous occasion for Mother Holden, who has been an important figure not only to her family but to many in our community,” said state Rep. Isaac Robinson (D-Detroit). “Few are fortunate to reach the century mark in life, much less exceed it, so I wish her the happiest of birthdays and hope she continues to enjoy the happiness she has given so generously to others.”
Mother Holden is and always has been dedicated to her faith. Prior to attending Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Mother Holden served in several capacities at Coggins CME Church, including as president of the missionary board, due to her passion for the church. A state tribute commemorating this important birthday will be presented to her by Rep. Robinson at the birthday celebration.
