LANSING, Mich., June 28, 2023 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed the state’s fiscal 2023-24 budget today. It includes the largest investment in education in Michigan’s history, including free lunch and breakfast for every public school student and affordable pre-K, as well as substantial investments in workforce recruitment and retention, water infrastructure and public safety. In response to the budget vote, state Rep. Sharon MacDonell (D-Troy) issued the following statement:
“This budget highlights many of the priorities that are important to District 56. From allocating funding for sound walls along I-75, to funding for the creation of a cricket field in Troy, this budget will help many of the people in my district and provide for some new recreation activities that we can all enjoy. This budget also provides the largest investment in education in Michigan history, making preschool and colleges more affordable for Michigan families.”
Highlights:
- $10 million for a sound wall on I-75.
- $900,000 for the creation of a Troy cricket field.
