BIRMINGHAM — Today in Birmingham, state Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham) introduced U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand at a town hall to discuss the threats posed by gun violence and steps that need to be taken to prevent tragedy in the community. Following the event, Rep. Manoogian issued the following statement:
“It was an honor and privilege to welcome Sen. Gillibrand to Birmingham for this critical discussion on preventing gun violence. We all want the best for the families in our communities, and putting a stop to unnecessary tragedies due to gun violence is a vital part of that. Commonsense safety measures like red-flag laws or the legislation I introduced earlier this term to ensure proper gun-storage are necessary steps we must take to tackle the threats posed by gun violence directly. I remain committed to fighting to raise awareness for this important cause, and I welcome all 2020 presidential candidates to Michigan to discuss the critical issues facing our communities.”
