LANSING, Mich., Jan. 26, 2023 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered the State of the State address yesterday before a joint session of the Legislature at the Capitol in Lansing. State Rep. Jasper R. Martus (D-Flushing) invited a prominent citizen of House District 69, Jenan Jondy of Flushing Township, to attend as his guest for the evening. Jondy is a leader in the Genesee County Muslim community, and she currently works as the regional economic innovation coordinator for the Michigan State University Center for Community and Economic Development. She and her family have been instrumental in attracting Muslim immigrants from across the globe to settle in mid-Michigan. Jondy is dedicated to strengthening communities through economic development and collaboration. Rep. Martus made a few remarks regarding his guest:
“Jenan is as kind as she is brilliant. While she often shies away from the spotlight, she was my first choice to be my guest at this year’s State of the State. This is because I wanted to say thank you for all that she’s done and continues to do for our community, and to show that we will continue to work closely throughout my time in office. She is a shining example of the hardworking and innovative people that call Genesee County home. I am thankful for her friendship and look forward to all that we will accomplish together.”
