State Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) receives the Legislator of the Year Award at CapCon on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

LANSING, Mich., March 18, 2025 — State Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) has been selected as one of the Michigan Municipal League’s two Legislators of the Year based on his outstanding work in the Michigan Legislature on behalf of Michigan’s local communities. McFall has a background in local government and has proven himself a champion for many local communities, earning the honor in part because of his Ground Emergency Medical Transport Bill, now PA 275 of 2024, which passed with bipartisan support. After being named Legislator of the Year, McFall issued the following statement:

“I am honored to be selected as the Michigan Municipal League’s Legislator of the Year. This recognition shows that state and local governments thrive when they work together and not as separate entities. The Ground Emergency Medical Transport program has the potential to bring millions of our federal tax dollars back to our local communities. Revenue sharing between state and local governments has decreased for decades, leaving our local governments in tough financial situations. I am proud to have worked with the Michigan Municipal League to help fill a gap in local funding and support our communities. I am committed to continue working with local leaders and the Michigan Municipal League to pursue positive policy for the people of Michigan.”
