LANSING, Mich., Jan. 29, 2025 — House Democratic Leader Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton) announced caucus assistant leadership positions for Michigan’s 103rd Legislature earlier this month. State Rep. Denise Mentzer (D-Mt. Clemens) was chosen as an assistant whip, alongside her colleagues, state Reps. Erin Byrnes (D-Dearborn) and Tonya Myers Phillips (D-Detroit). In response to receiving this assistant leadership position, Mentzer issued the following statement:
“I am honored to be named as an assistant whip this legislative term and further serve my caucus and constituents. My colleagues and I are prepared to continue to build up the people of Michigan by enacting policy to better their everyday lives.
