LANSING, Mich., Jan. 30, 2023 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed House Bills 4001 and 4002 during last week’s session. House Bill 4001 repeals the retirement tax on seniors, while House Bill 4002 expands the working families tax credit to provide relief to hard-working families. The bills will now be sent to the Senate to be voted on.

“I am proud to have gotten the chance to vote yes on both bills,” said state Rep. Reggie Miller (D-Van Buren Township). “This legislation will allow Michiganders to keep more of their hard-earned money. I look forward to the relief that this will directly provide families. Over 700,000 families will be eligible for the expanded working families tax credit, and the repeal of the retirement tax will also allow our seniors to do better on a fixed income. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the state Senate to get these bills established as laws.”
