MUSKEGON HEIGHTS — State Rep. Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon) welcomed news today that the city of Muskegon Heights has been selected by the Michigan Department of Transportation to receive a Transportation Economic Development Fund grant. This is a competitive grant that is made available to eligible road agencies throughout Michigan and is used for the preservation or expansion of road networks within urban areas of the state’s rural counties.

“As a former road commissioner of Muskegon County, I know how direly more road funding is needed in our local communities, and sympathize with residents’ frustrations when that need is not properly addressed,” said Sabo. “As a state representative, road funding continues to be a priority of mine, and I am very excited that Muskegon Heights was awarded this opportunity. Well-maintained roads and infrastructure are one of the keys to an improved economy and overall quality of life, and this grant will go a long way in providing some much-needed relief to residents of the area.”

Set to be issued for the 2020 fiscal year, this grant will cover up to $250,000 of construction costs for improvements to Park Street.
