FLINT, Mich., July 3, 2025 — July 1 was the deadline for the Michigan Legislature to pass a balanced budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year. House Republicans missed this important deadline, delaying the funding that Michigan families and communities depend on. After the deadline passed, state Rep. Cynthia Neeley (D-Flint) issued the following statement:

“I’ve always fought for the rights and dignity of Flint families and all Michiganders. Missing the July 1 budget deadline is more than a delay — it’s a failure of Republican leadership to meet our basic obligation to the people we serve. Working families don’t get to miss rent or skip utility bills without consequences — the State of Michigan won’t either.”

“Our teachers, nurses, construction workers and city employees deserve stability, not uncertainty. I’m ready to work with anyone willing to focus on solutions — because we can’t afford any more delays.”
