Budget win aids small businesses, job seekers alike
SAGINAW, Mich., Oct. 8, 2024 — State Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) attended an event at PartnerShift Network today to celebrate this year’s $600,000 budget investment to the community focused organization.
“Since stepping foot in office, I’ve promoted Michigan workers — whether it be increasing opportunities to feed the skilled trades pipeline or standing with our local unions. PartnerShift Network embodies similar priorities, making sure employees and employers have access to services to develop and support successful futures here in Saginaw,” said O’Neal, vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee. “I’m proud to have secured these investments for PartnerShift Network to continue to uplift our hometown successes.”
PartnerShift Network started in 1997. The organization prioritizes workforce-driven solutions through community partnerships, helping both businesses and job seekers meet their full potential. The organization also provides services for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) populations. The range of services include skills training, career development, financial literacy support, budget management assistance, auto care costs, child care assistance and housing security.
“PartnerShift Network expresses heartfelt gratitude to Representative Amos O’Neal for his unwavering commitment to the ALICE population in the Great Lakes Bay Region,” said Rachelle Hilliker, PartnerShift Network’s interim executive director. “With these dollars, PartnerShift Network will be able to ensure more working families are able to keep the heat on in the winter, have enough food in their bellies to get them through their shift at work and create strategic plans that will help retain our region’s workforce. These funds will prevent an individual’s single crisis from spiraling into a lifetime of struggle, fostering employment stability and driving innovative workforce solutions among our business network partners.”
