SAGINAW, Mich., April 2, 2025 — The Trump-Musk Administration has removed nearly $42 million in pre-approved project reimbursements among 27 Michigan school districts this week. These school districts were slated to be reimbursed for projects that improved its infrastructure. Among those school districts is Bridgeport-Spaulding schools and investments of $543,527.85. In response to this decision, state Rep. Amos O’Neal (D-Saginaw) issued the following statement:

“Frankly, it is the students who will be the ones who bear the burden of this bad decision. Money that was expected to be reimbursed will now blow a hole in our schools’ pockets. Not only are Michigan families seeing rising costs, but our schools are also being totally shocked on many levels from the change in reimbursement date by the federal government, the dismantling of the Department of Education to the Michigan House Republican budget. There is nothing worse than unexpected costs and shrinking investments in our school districts. Our schools are really taking a hit — our students deserve better.”
