Today, I voted NO on House Bills 4340 and 4341, legislation which aims to prohibit services to Michigan’s undocumented persons. These bills seek to prevent anyone who is not a U.S. citizen or “qualified alien” from receiving services, grants or participation in any program covered under the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Act and the Social Welfare Act. To legislate to prohibit any person from having access to essential housing, social and healthcare services — any human rights — is unnecessary and abhorrent.

I was elected to office to represent everyone who lives in my district, House District 10 – it doesn’t matter who they are, where they’re from, how they got here, if they live in a house or a car or on the street, whether they’re registered to vote or not.

My duty is in service to represent all people who live in HD-10.
