DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 19, 2022 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced today that Carhartt Inc. has received a $937,500 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant through the Michigan Strategic Fund. This grant will help Carhartt expand its Dearborn operations and create 125 new, good-paying jobs.  

“I couldn’t be happier to hear that Carhartt is expanding in Dearborn,” state Rep. Jeff Pepper (D-Dearborn) said. “With the investment of new, good-paying jobs, this opportunity will help attract and keep talent here in Dearborn and provide greater opportunities for our friends and neighbors.”

Carhartt, founded in Detroit in 1889, is a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of workwear. Carhartt is planning on expanding its business in  areas such as product design, digital marketing, customer care and operations in response to increasing demand. Carhartt will hire skilled professionals, with wages averaging $43.22 per hour plus benefits. Positions may include web developers, marketing specialists, sales representatives and customer service personnel.
