LANSING — State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) was named an assistant House Democratic floor leader today for the 2019-2020 legislative term. Pohutsky is serving her first term representing 19th House District, which encompasses the majority of the city of Livonia.
“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve both the people of the 19th House District and the Democratic caucus for the upcoming session,” said Pohutsky. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in building a brighter future for the people of Livonia and our state. Hardworking families across Michigan deserve to see their roads fixed, to have safe, clean water and great public schools, and I could not be more excited to get to work to make that vision a reality.”
As assistant Democratic floor leader, Pohutsky will work directly with Democratic Leader Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) and Floor Leader Yousef Rahbi (D-Ann Arbor) to direct House Democrats’ legislative priorities during the new session. Pohutsky graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in microbiology, and has worked in the fields of food safety, toxicology and health care. She is a member of the Livonia Democratic Club, is active in Michigan United and lives in Livonia with her husband Mark and their rescue pets.
