LANSING, Mich., April 30, 2024 — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed House Bill 4608 into law today. Michigan will require licensure for those who practice medical nutrition therapy, otherwise known as registered dietitian nutritionists. After the bill signing, Speaker Pro Tempore Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) issued the following statement:
“This legislation was about ensuring safety and confidence in those who provide diet and nutrition advice. It allows Michiganders to easily distinguish those licensed or not when it comes to providing accurate and safe advice that affects one’s health and wellbeing. I’m glad we could get it across the finish line.”
