Puri Calls on Hall to Comply with Court of Claims Decision that Frees Nine Limbo Bills

Republican Speaker must obey law, drop attempt to obstruct democracy

LANSING, Mich., Feb. 27, 2025 — A Court of Claims judge, Hon. Sima Patel, ruled today that Speaker Matt Hall and Michigan House Republicans are legally required to present the nine limbo bills to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to be signed into law. After the court’s ruling, Democratic Leader Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton) issued the following statement:

“Holding these nine bills hostage came at the cost of Michigan taxpayers. The bills, if signed into law, would lower health care costs, add pension benefits for corrections and conservation officers, help to financially protect struggling workers and more. I applaud the ruling today and call on Speaker Hall to comply with the court’s decision.
