State Rep. Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton) delivers a speech on the fiscal 2024-25 transportation budget on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Michigan Capitol.

 

LANSING, Mich., May 8, 2024 — The Michigan House of Representatives passed its recommended fiscal 2024-25 budget today. It includes increased funding for our roads and infrastructure, public transit, and new technology and mobility initiatives. It also directs the Michigan Department of Transportation to research innovations including biofilters, bioswales and road diets. After the budget’s passage, state Rep. Ranjeev Puri (D-Canton) issued the following statement:

“This budget focuses on the transportation needs of Michiganders — from our roads to public transit and new technology and mobility solutions. The way we are thinking about transportation is shifting, and this budget is innovative and future-facing by making investments in things like e-bike incentives, inductive charging and aerial mobility. With these strategic investments, we’ll be ready to take on the potential of tomorrow while dealing with the challenges of today.”
