“Through his sexist, disturbing comments, Mr. Weiser has laid bare his true nature. Misogynistic, sexist and violent rhetoric goes much further than words; we’ve seen time and time again here in Michigan how this type of language only serves to fuel the fires of violence and abuse towards women—in elected office and everywhere.
“When Mr. Weiser was elected to serve on the University of Michigan Board of Regents, he accepted the responsibility required of an elected office holder to remain accountable to the very individuals who put him there in the first place. He’s proven through his actions and words that he is no longer fit to serve the faculty and students of the University, nor the people of Michigan.
“We cannot accept living in a state or nation that is unable to hold individuals accountable for the words that leave their mouths or actions they take. Mr. Weiser must resign immediately from the office he holds and begin taking steps to truly atone for the harm he has caused.”
