LANSING — House Democratic Floor Leader Yousef Rabhi (D-Ann Arbor) was recognized on Tuesday by Clean Water Action with the Champion of the Great Lakes award. Attorney General Dana Nessel was also in attendance and served as keynote speaker for the event. Each year, the Champion of the Great Lakes award honors a state lawmaker who demonstrates outstanding advocacy for the Great Lakes and clean drinking water, with past recipients including Sen. Stephanie Chang, Sen. Jeff Irwin, Rep. Sam Singh, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, and Rep. Rebekah Warren. In response to receiving this award, Rep. Rabhi issued the following statement:

“I am deeply honored to receive the Champion of the Great Lakes Award and to continue the legacy of past legislative Champions. The Great Lakes are vital to not only our state’s natural beauty, but also to our economy, health and identity. I will continue to defend every Michigander’s right to clean, safe drinking water.”
