LANSING – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced today that she will bring legal action to shut down Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 pipelines under the Straits of Mackinac. In response to the attorney general’s action, state Rep. Yousef Rabhi (D-Ann Arbor) issued the following statement:

“I am glad to see Attorney General Nessel take decisive steps to protect the economy and environment of the Great Lakes State. Continuing to operate an Eisenhower-era pipeline for another decade while a tunnel is constructed presents an unacceptable risk, especially considering that there are alternatives available for the Upper Peninsula’s energy needs. I applaud the attorney general for her commitment to her constitutional responsibility to protect the public interest.”
