LANSING — Rep. Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) hosted firefighter Joe Dubay of the Grand Rapids Fire Department at a ceremony at the state Capitol today commemorating the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 2001. The event honored the memory of those who lost their lives in the attack and the first responders who stand ready to help their neighbors in any emergency.

“The anniversary of Sept. 11 calls to mind the heroism and sacrifice of so many men and women who rushed in to save lives,” Brinks said. “That same spirit of hard work and service lives on in our local community any time Joe Dubay and the people he serves with respond to a call for help. I am so thankful for those who selflessly put their own lives on the line for the sake of others, and I’m honored to be able to thank them.”
