LANSING — State Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) marked his 100th day in office today. Camilleri has been busy in Lansing, racking up a 100 percent attendance record and introducing legislation to repeal the tax on seniors’ retirement, defend programs that help the Great Lakes and hold government contractors accountable.
“I take my job as the 23rd District’s voice in Lansing seriously,” Camilleri said. “Introducing and voting on legislation that affects the people and communities of Downriver — and across Michigan — is my main concern, and I’ll always keep my constituents at the front of my mind when I’m at the Capitol.”
In addition to his work in Lansing, Camilleri has also been active in the community. He has held 12 coffee hours, including at least one in each of the cities and townships he represents, has responded to hundreds of constituent concerns, and visited 28 local schools during March is Reading Month.
“Interacting with the people I represent is the best and most important part of my job,” Camilleri said. “I want them to know that I don’t plan to rest on these accomplishments. I will continue working hard, both in Lansing and around Downriver, to be the best advocate I can for the families, students, seniors and communities of the 23rd District.”
