DEXTER — State Rep. John Cherry (D-Flint) joined Rep. Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Township) and State Budget Office Director Chris Kolb at a town hall on Tuesday to discuss the state budget process, proposals and priorities for local communities. A brief presentation was followed by a question and answer session with residents. The event saw an impressive turnout from members of the community interested in learning more about the budget process and voicing their concerns.
“I was pleased to see so many members of our community there to learn more about the budget process and become active participants in the decision-making process,” Rep. Lasinski said. “What I heard from residents only reinforces my belief that we need a budget that provides ambitious new solutions to fixing our roads, while allowing government agencies the freedom to do their jobs effectively. I will work for a budget that gives Michigan the resources and support our communities need.”
Bills pertaining to the state budget are still receiving hearings in their respective committees, but are expected to be brought before the full House for a vote in the near future.
Members of the community who were unable to attend this event but are interested in giving their input can contact Rep. Cherry’s office at (517) 373-7515 or by email at johncherry@house.mi.gov.
