“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis and especially as we begin the process of safely reengaging our economy, the availability of appropriate PPE for first responders and critical infrastructure workers and robust testing capacity are issues of paramount concern. Ensuring that Michigan has access to adequate PPE and testing is essential to preventing a resurgence of the virus and to saving Michiganders’ lives and livelihoods.

“The Joint Select Committee has the duty — particularly in light of a chaotic and inadequate federal response — to assess Michigan’s preparedness for a phased reengagement of our economy. Hearings on both PPE and testing capacity are crucial to the Joint Select Committee’s ability to gather information necessary to inform recommendations regarding Legislative action required to support the state’s ongoing pandemic response and prepare us for future crises.”

State Rep. Vanessa Guerra (D-Saginaw) serves as the Minority Vice Chair of the Joint Select Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic.
