LANSING — Last month, voters approved Proposal 3 to eliminate barriers to fair and accessible elections. Despite the proposal passing with over 60 percent support and in 80 of Michigan’s 83 counties, House Republicans rushed through a plan today weakening key elements of the initiative. In response, state Rep. Vanessa Guerra (D-Saginaw) issued the following statement:

“The people of Michigan made their voices overwhelmingly heard on Proposal 3 — first in the thousands who signed the petition to see it on the ballot, and then when millions of them voted in support of more open, fair and accessible elections last month. It is clear Michiganders want to ensure everyone in our state has the freedom and ability to access their right to vote. To subvert the will of the people now only a month after the passage of Proposal 3 is absolutely shameful.”
