DETROIT — State Rep. Padma Kuppa (D-Troy) served as a moderator during the opening plenaries panel discussion at the inaugural conference this week, hosted by the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion at Marygrove College in Detroit. The event focused on equipping the workplace for transformation change that includes diversity, equity and inclusion.
“As a member of the MI Roundtable Board, I was excited for the opportunity to bring a new perspective as a State legislator to the organization,” Kuppa said. “In an ever-changing social landscape, the important conversations held at this conference serve as a sustainable foundation to engage diversity and pursue equity and inclusion throughout our workplaces and communities.”
The panel discussion moderated by Rep. Kuppa covered the topic of Metro Detroit’s history of racial segregation and its continued impacts on people and institutions in the region. In addition, and how this history can inform our efforts to make the places we work and live more equitable, with opportunity for all.
