LANSING, Mich., Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021 — State Rep. Padma Kuppa (D-Troy) issued the following statement after today’s passage of legislation based on unfounded claims of election irregularities or fraud:

“I am disappointed that the reason we were called back to Lansing today was to further promote misinformation, and worse, disinformation, and create additional mistrust of our election process. Time after time, the 2020 election has been found to have been the safest in our country’s history. Passing bills that don’t solve a problem but instead create a bigger divide between citizens is asinine at best and dangerous at worst. Voting is the most sacred right we have as citizens, and any law that seeks to infringe on that right in any way is unacceptable.”
